Being denied entry in the United States is often frustrating or embarrassing. In some cases it can lead to vacations being cancelled, money being lost, or careers being threatened. With all of these issues to deal with, someone might not have the time or energy to successfully navigate the process of attaining entry into the United States. Fortunately, Pardon Services Canada is here to provide support with a US Entry Waiver during this difficult time from the first time you are denied entry, until you are freely entering into the United States. If you ever find yourself in this situation, we would encourage you to follow the steps below in order to get you started.

1. Remember the details

We understand that there is likely a great deal going through your mind when you are first denied entry into the United States, but we still recommend that you try to remember some important details about your denial in order to ease the process later, such as:
-Where were you denied? Which border crossing/which airport?
-When were you denied?
-What reasons did the border official give for denying you entry? If you were denied due to criminal convictions or charges, which ones did they focus on?
-Were you fingerprinted at the time of being denied?

2. Keep your documents

When you are denied, you may be issued documents relating to your denial of entry. These can include transcripts of your discussion with the border official, information about how long you are prevented from re-entering, the exact date of your denial, and often includes your Alien Registration Number which can be useful in hastening the application process. Keeping these documents can ensure that a US Entry Waiver application in the future goes smoothly, and without error or confusion.

3. Plan ahead

It’s important not to linger too long on being denied entry into the United States. Instead, try to look ahead to why and when you want to go to the United States again. Allot yourself plenty of time to stay in Canada before seeking to enter the United States, as the process of obtaining a US Entry Waiver can be lengthy and complicated.

4. Call us!

Now that you’ve prepared yourself to obtain a US Entry Waiver, simply give Pardon Services Canada a call and we’ll use our expertise to complete your application and get you back into the United States.
